Situated in the Kruger National Park buffer zone, with 360km of the Kruger to the north and Lionspruit Game Reserve to the south, Marloth Park is a unique wildlife paradise. Giraffe, zebra, kudu, wildebeest, bushbuck, impala, warthogs, tortoises, porcupines, mongooses and monkeys are just some of the animals that roam freely in the area. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded in Marloth. Being situated on the banks of the Crocodile River, Kubu River Lodge is in a perfect transition zone for riparian and savannah species, with many of the migratory Eurasian birds making Marloth their summer home. As the sun sinks below the horizon, the light-free night sky puts on a dazzling display of stars. Listen to the calls of hyena and lions as bushbabies hop through the branches and gennets glide among the shadows. It's easy to see why people fall in love with Marloth and end up living here.
Our amenities are simple but more than adequate. We have two shopping centres where you can purchase all your groceries, beverages, charcoal, ice, home baked goodies and anything else you may need to make your stay comfortable. There are numerous restaurants. We have a fuel station and a water wonderland for the children. There's also a lovely municipal swimming pool located at the camp site. Dr. Shane Kearns is our local GP and very caring medical doctor.
The town of Komatipoort is 20km to the east of us and Malelane is 40km to the west.
While you may be lucky enough to see the Big 5 from the comfort of your veranda at Kubu River Lodge, we are ideally situated for day trips into the Kruger National Park. Crocodile Bridge gate is about 20km from us and Malelane gate is roughly 40km away.
With over 100kms of roads in Marloth, you can walk, jog and cycle to your heart's content, but there are also many activities that can be booked, including game drives, overnight trips and bush braais in the Kruger; village homestays with local community members; cultural and historical day trips to neighbouring Mozambique and Swaziland; fishing trips and quad biking. Please let us know what you're interested in and we will try and arrange it for you!
Living in this little piece of paradise does come with a few rules. Marloth belongs to the animals, so absolutely no littering will be tolerated. Please only feed the animals game pellets (or bananas for the bushbabies). Game pellets can be bought in Marloth. Any form of loud noise, including music, is not allowed. Our speed limit is 40km on the tar road and 30km on the gravel roads. Because we do have a few resident leopards and occasionally lions visit, walking around after sunset and before sunrise is not permitted. We will keep you informed of any carnivorous visitors!
